Repairs
Drumskull Drums does repairs on a wide variety of drums, including djembes, dununs, congas, ngomas, bugarabus, and much more. We use all of the same materials for our drum repairs as we do on the new drums that we sell. You can feel confident that after we repair your drum, it will look, sound, and feel like it came from our shop originally. Our business owner and master-builder, Matthew Hardwick, alone has over 20 years of experience in building and repairing a variety of drums. Our reputation for having the highest quality djembes in the world is a direct result of his vast knowledge of woodworking, of drum skins, of various styles of drumming, and of the African drum and dance culture in general.
For djembe repairs and prices, please see our Djembe Repair page. For inquiries about repairs for all other types of drums, please either email us or call us at 831-429-5766.
------------------------------------------------------
The prices for our drum repairs vary, depending on the type of drum and whether or not we originally built the drum and/or have repaired it in the past (DSD) or whether it is the first time that we are working on the drum (Non-DSD).
"DSD" DRUM REPAIR:
A "DSD" drum is one that we have either built or put skins on at one time in the past. We will re-head your drum with new skins and also oil the shell and fix any small cracks. In the end, the drum will be as good as new again!
"NON-DSD" DRUM REPAIR:
A "Non-DSD" drum is one that we have never put skins on before. If this is the first time that we will be putting a skin on your drum, we will do a complete overhaul which includes all new rope, new skins, resurfacing the bearing edge, fixing any small cracks and oiling the shell. In the end, the drum will basically be brand new! You get to choose your new rope color!
