Details

This is a  solid shell Bugarabu from Mali, West Africa. They are carved by the same carver that carves our djembes and dunun and are excellent quality. Many think of Bugarabu as a cross between a conga and a djembe. The tones and slaps have a very similar feel to a conga and the bass is more pronounced, similar to the djembe. Bugarabu originate from the Casamance region of Senegal and are generally played in sets of 2 - 5.  We head these drums with thick cow skin which brings out the best combination of bass, tone and slap. This is the larger drum of the two. It is tuned to be played with the other smaller diameter Bugarabu that is listed.
