This is a solid shell Conga hand carved in Mali from Dugara wood. We professionally headed this drum with a thick cow skin from Guinea and tuned it to our specifications. This combination created a conga that plays like the familiar hardware tuned congas, but it has more of a raw, earthy feel resulting from its solid shell, non-processed cow skin and rope tuning.
